  • Wherever you are now in the world, I hope you and your loved ones are safe and healthy and coping with this global Covid-19 pandemic well. We all have been going through difficult times. We have found ourselves in an unexpected and quite uneasy situation. I don’t know how you are coping with all the confinements. On my end, I try to turn this challenging situation into an opportunity. I can’t say it is easy, but I consciously choose to have a positive attitude. I am careful to select what I watch and listen and I try to use this time to slow down, reflect more on myself and my professional development, read completely new things, develop new routines for my body, soul and mind. All this helps me get ready for the time after Corona. In short, what I can recommend is to accept that confinement is our current reality. Holding on to the past does not help. Instead giving up resistance, adapting and trying to build on new us may really work. Here is a quote from the forty rules of love book by Elif Shafak that I like very much:

“Try not to resist the changes that come your way. Instead let life live through you. And do not worry that your life is turning upside down. How do you know that the side you are used to is better than the one to come?”

  • On March 9, I was invited by PWN Vienna (Professional Women’s Network Vienna) to talk about Gender Equality just one day after International Women’s Day. I believe Gender Equality should no longer be seen as a requirement that the companies should meet; it is a necessity. Today we don’t have the luxury to ignore or suffer from the absence of women’s talent and contribution. Different than focusing on what needs to be done by companies or how to convenience employers, Managers or HR in that regard, I focused on how women can empower themselves to get what they want in the working world.

  • On February 12, I led the second Learning Leader event for TurkishWIN and hosted Nilgun Simsek Ata, CEO HSBC Asset Management Turkey. Together we tried to explore why big picture perspective is such a necessity in today’s VUCA world. We also discussed what methods we need to learn in order to take this perspective.
