  • During my stay in Washington DC, I visited Petra De Bruxelles, Diversity and Inclusion Advisor at IMF in her office. We talked about their strategy on diversity and gender equality and discussed what exactly it takes to get everyone included in the system. I left our meeting with great take-aways and do look forward to sharing them when I am back in Istanbul and Vienna.

  • Another news that I would like to share with you is I recently commenced running a voluntary project about giving women from all walks of life a voice and listening to their messages. I thought not only important or famous women have got strong messages in life. Every woman has got something to say. Because every woman goes through difficult times and holds on something to move on. If we just look around and take time to listen to them, we may get inspired by their messages too.

My project’s name is A Woman, A Message and the first episode is called Women, I met in America.

I simply asked those women the question of "what keeps them standing in life?" and listened to their messages. Then, I took the picture of them with my mobile phone and put these pictures into the black and white format. Every Thursday, I share these women's pictures and messages on my social media account (@oyaalicigunay on instagram). I do not share where they come from, what they do, whether they are single or not, whether they have kids or not; they appear on my page just with their first names. Because it is all about them and their message.
