  • While staying lockdown and being worried about how we would cope with the Corona virus in the long-run, I am happy to say that I spent the second quarter in a very effective way. I think one of the best things that Covid-19 has brought into our lives is online learning. During April, I had chance to attend amazing live webinars like "The Source - The Science of Mental Resilience" by Tara Swart, MIT Sloan Professor; Systemic Team Coaching by Peter Hawkins, Professor of Leadership Henley Business School and some other webinar series organized by Columbia University in New York. It was fantastic listening to those great people without spending long hours to travel.

  • The other thing that I have done in this quarter and would be happy to share with you is volunteer coaching that I provided for the health-care workers in Turkey and the UK. When I was approached to be part of these volunteer programs, I said yes straight away. I was already thinking about how I could contribute to the society in these challenging times. It was such an experience for me. Once more, I could see the positive impact coaching has on people who are exposed to extraordinary stress.

  • In addition to that I was invited to speak at the following online webinars:

“The effects of Covid-19 on career development” for Yeditepe and Baskent Universities in Turkey

“Leadership in Uncertainty” for European Bank for Reconstruction and Development

“Journey Within” for Turkish Women International Network

I left each event with this take-away: “As human being, we need to connect. Human connection, either in-person or virtual, is necessary for our survival”.

  • The other event that I led online in this quarter was the third Learning Leader event – why Financial Understanding matters - for TurkishWIN members. I and my guest, Pelin Kabalak who is the Vice President of the Board at the Financial Literacy and Accessibility Association specifically focused on the psychological dimension of finance and discussed why one may show resistance in that regard. Here we are from our online event.

  • Last but not least, I have started having zoom calls with people coming from different backgrounds to discuss the effects of Covid-19 on Diversity and Inclusion. Our lessons from previous crises show us that diversity and inclusion may be neglected in times of crises. So, I interview my guests for 20-25 minutes on a zoom call and raise all my questions in that regard. I will shortly start sharing these video recordings on my social media accounts. Please stay tuned!
